RIP The Intimidator

Post by Akadeanna Hawk on Tue Jul 05, 2016 6:02 pm

It has now been 15 years since the death of a legend in Nascar; I now update this memorial page for him. February 18th, 2016 has come and gone as well as the first race of the 2016 Nascar Season the Daytona 500, it fell 3 days after the 15th year anniversary falling on February 21st, 2016.

Some knew this man as Dale Earnhardt Sr. while those of us who watched him and cheered him onto victory every Sunday he was #3 The Intimidator. Once person just had to watch him race just once and they could understand where his nickname of The Intimidator came from. Dale Earnhardt Sr. Was A True Legacy In Racing He Was Known As The Intimidator.

But he was more than just a Nascar Driver he was a father to 4 children 2 sons and two daughters. Kerry (son; oldest), Kelley (daughter), Dale Jr. (son), & Taylor Nicole (daughter; youngest). He was married 3 times. He Won The Winston Cup in the years 1980, 1986, 1987, 1990, 1991, 1993, and 1994

I never had the great honor of knowing Dale Earnhardt Sr. or as he was known to his fans as The Intimidator. I only got to see him burning up the track in Nascar and one faithful Friday or Saturday I walked into Wendy’s near my house, where I now live, with my Grandmother, and a man walked past me I stared at him, but didn’t think anything of it until after I had my food and sat down.

The man I saw was Dale Earnhardt Sr. Himself! The Intimidator! Very few believe me when I tell them this story, but I later found out from my Step-Dad that there was a race at Brooklyn that weekend, over at MIS (Michigan International Speedway). Many still don’t believe me when I tell this story even to this day. Saying that there are many that could’ve looked like him, but I ask you this? How can one NOT recognize the intimidating look in his eyes? How can one not recognize that look?

Even though now the Lord has taken The Intimidator home and away from us, I still watch the races and cheer on his son Dale Earnhardt Jr. who now races the number 88 car, and I root on Kevin Harvick who races the number 29 car who has the same sponsors Dale Earnhardt Sr. did. I look forward to the day when it’s my time to go to the Heavens, though I hope it’s not for a long time, because that day I will track down Dale Earnhardt Sr. The Intimidator in the Heavens and meet him. I wonder if he remembers that day we crossed paths in Wendy’s? I will ask him one day

Pictures Remembering Him:

Dale Earnhardt Sr. Pictured here with his Car

Here he is waiting for the race to start

Flag at half-mast remembering him:

Here is Dale celebrating another victory:

Here is Dale Earnhardt Sr. standing with his son Dale Earnhardt Jr.; Dale Sr. is in the white and black Nascar gear and Dale Jr. is in the Red Budwiser Nascar gear

Here is the black #3 out on the racetrack

Here is Dale giving a thumbs up indicating that everything is ok

This makes me wonder what he was looking at and what he was thinking about as this photo was taken. He seems so content.

Dale seems like he’s thinking here, i wonder what he was thinking about? His next victory? The next race? Or his own mortality?

A good laugh, but true:

Here's Dale celebrating another victory in victory lane

Here is the fatal crash that took Dale's life see the black #3

Here is a sketch of Dale Earnhardt Sr.

Here is a sketch of Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Jr. together

Winners come and go, but heros live on forever

A Memorial Plaque:

A fan's view of him entering heaven

This track looks golden and many fans believe this golden racetrack in heaven is now where Dale Earnhardt Sr. Races with all the legends who have passed away.

Note: I take no credit for these pictures or any others in this memorial page

Here are a few videos in memory of him:

This Song Is Called The Last Ride A Tribute To Dale Earnhardt Sr.

By: Toby Keith:

Well I Was Going To Daytona
I Had My Race Gear In My Pack
When A Stranger Pulled Up Beside Me
In A Stock Car Colored Black

He Was Dressed Like A Nascar Driver
A Mustache With Mirrored Eyes
He Said "It's A Long Walk To Florida
Would You Like A Ride, Son."

Well, I Crawled Across The Roll Cage
Then He Fired That Chevy Up
And The Patch On His Sleeve Said The Man Had Won
7 Winston Cups

His Eyes Was Intimidatin' As Hell
As We Roared Into The Night
And I Knew There Was Something Strange
About This Ride

He Said, "Boy, Can You Make Fans Stand And Scream Your Name,
Have You Hit 'Em In The Ass,
Never Let Off The Gas,
Till You Roll Into Victory Lane."

He Said, "Boy, Do You Know How Feels When You're Running Three Wide,
Cause If You're Daytona Bound,
Lemme Warn Ya,
You're In For A Ride."

Then He Cried When We Got To Daytona
As We Pulled Out On The Track
He Said "This Is Where You Get Out Boy,
Cause #3 Ain't Coming Back."

And As I Climbed Out Of The Race Car
I Said "Thanks, I'll Catch Ya Later."
He Said "You'll Pay Hell Catchin' Me Son,
Cause I'm The Intimidator."

He Said, "Boy, Can You Make Fans Stand And Scream Your Name,
Have You Hit 'Em In The Ass,
Never Let Off The Gas,
Till You Roll Into Victory Lane."

He Said, "Boy, Do You Know How Feels When You're Running Three Wide,
Cause If You're Daytona Bound,
Lemme Warn Ya,
You're In For A Ride."

He Said, "Boy, Can You Make Fans Stand And Scream Your Name,
Have You Hit 'Em In The Ass,
Never Let Off The Gas,
Till You Roll Into Victory Lane."

He Said, "Boy, Do You Know How Feels When You're Running Three Wide,
Cause If You're Daytona Bound,
Lemme Warn Ya,
You're In For A Ride."

"If You're Daytona Bound,
Lemme Warn Ya,
You're In For A Ride."

The Last Ride

I’m Free:

Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free;
I’m following the path God laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard him call
I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day
To laugh, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way
I found that place at the close of the day.

If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss;
Ah yes these things, I too, will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow;
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life’s been full, I savored so much;
Good friends, good times, a loved one’s
Touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief;
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share it with me;
God wanted me now, He set me free.
